Apple iPhone/ iPad FormatApple iPhone/ iPad has adopted ePUB as a standard for its iBooks application. One needs an iTunes account and iPhone and iPod touch with iOS 4 or later. iBooks is not compatible with earlier versions of iPhones.

iBooks and the iBookstore are available in all App Store countries.  iBookstore content varies by country.

  • You can use iBooks on iPad. You can also use iBooks on iPhone or iPod touch wi th iOS 4 or later.  
  • An iTunes Store account is required to download from the iBookstore.
  • iBooks uses books published in the ePub format.
  • To add ePub files from outside the iBookstore to iBooks, they must be DRM-free and synced to your device using iTunes 9.2 or later.
